What We Teach

We hold to historic, orthodox Christian faith. On the essentials, we fully agree. On matters where faithful followers have long had opinions, we hold our convictions with humility and leave room for grace.

Statement of Faith

God

We believe in one God, eternally existing as one essence and three distinct persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

Revelation

God has revealed himself through Jesus Christ, through Scripture, and through creation. He is not hidden. He has made himself known.

Creation and Providence

God created all things and sustains all things. He is sovereign over every part of his creation.

Humanity

Every person bears the image of God and possesses inherent dignity and worth.

Sin

Sin has broken every relationship: with God, with one another, and with creation itself. All people stand in need of redemption.

Salvation

Redemption comes by grace alone, through faith alone, in Jesus Christ alone. There is no other way.

The Church

The church is the body of Christ. It exists to demonstrate the love, beauty, and glory of God to the world. It is not a building or an institution. It is the people of God gathered and sent.

Baptism

We believe in the ordinance of believers baptism as an outward and visible sign of inward and personal faith.

The Lord's Supper

We believe in the regular practice of communion, where believers break bread together at the Lord's Table in remembrance of him.

Scripture

The Old and New Testament Scriptures are the inspired word of God, the ultimate authority for faith and practice. We read the Bible together, carefully and honestly.

Resurrection and Kingdom

Christ will return to judge the living and the dead. His kingdom has no end.

Eternity

Those who trust in Christ will enjoy eternal communion with God. Those who reject him face eternal separation from his presence.

Historic Creeds

We hold that the Apostles' Creed and the Nicene Creed are faithful summaries of biblical teaching. These creeds connect us to the global church. We do not invent new doctrine. We rest in what has been true for all of history.
