Our Father Hears Our Prayers — Select Passages
Our Father Hears Our Prayers
February 11, 2024

This week's passages: Select Passages
We spent Sunday walking through the Lord’s Prayer and what it teaches about bringing our needs to God. The heart of the message: God is not a genie. He is our Father. And he hears us.
Three things to remember.
First, petition your Father. He cares for you. Every prayer starts with “Our Father.” That framing matters. We are children approaching a Father who loves us. The Spirit himself intercedes for us when we do not even have words. Trust him to provide, forgive, lead, and deliver.
Second, watch your motives. Focus on him. James warns that asking with wrong motives falls on deaf ears. Prayer aligned with God’s will is prayer that God answers. Not a wish list. A relationship.
Third, fear not. First things first. The Psalms remind us over and over: the Lord is near to the brokenhearted. He delivers. He comforts. And 2 Corinthians 1 says he comforts us so we can comfort others. Seek first his kingdom. Everything else follows.
Something to sit with this week:
Where in your life do you need to stop worrying and start praying?
