Encouraged by What's Ahead — Joshua 9:1-10:27
No One Is Beyond Redemption

This week's passage: Joshua 9:1-10:27
We walked through Joshua 9 and 10 this Sunday, looking at four very different responses to the same God. Everyone in the land heard the same news: Jericho fell, Ai fell, God was moving. But not everyone responded the same way.
First, the Gibeonites came low. Worn-out sacks, cracked sandals, no weapons. They chose humility over strength. Their faith was messy, but mercy met them there. Israel’s real failure wasn’t showing grace. It was prayerlessness. They trusted their eyes instead of asking God.
Second, when the truth came out that the Gibeonites were neighbors, not visitors, Israel struggled. Grace is easy at a distance. It gets harder when it moves next door. But the leaders honored their oath. God protected the covenant.
Third, the Amorite kings heard the same news and tightened their grip. Same fear. Different response. They chose control over surrender and attacked Gibeon, the ones who had laid their weapons down.
Fourth, God stepped in. Joshua marched all night. God threw hailstones, stopped the sun, and defended the people who had come low. Mercy was not a mistake. God proved it.
Something to sit with this week:
When fear presses in, do you come low, or do you grab for control?
